Custom WordPress Theme For Themeforest
Project Overview
Morat is a Software & Solution WordPress Theme designed for software companies, IT service providers, SaaS businesses, technology startups, and other digital service companies.
This project was a little different from my usual development work at RRdevs. I initially assigned the project to a junior developer I was closely mentoring, with the goal of giving him practical experience in building a complete commercial WordPress theme.
I guided him through the development process and helped him understand the theme architecture, Elementor widget development, responsive implementation, and WordPress-specific functionality. He completed approximately 60% of the project, including a significant portion of the frontend and theme implementation.
When he reached a point where he was no longer able to complete the remaining work, I took over the project and completed the rest of the development and finishing work myself.
- Assigned the initial development to a junior developer as a learning and mentoring opportunity.
- Guided the developer through the WordPress theme development process.
- Reviewed and supported his implementation throughout the project.
- The junior developer completed approximately 60% of the project.
- Took over the remaining development when he was unable to continue.
- Completed the remaining features, integrations, fixes, and final finishing.
- Worked with Elementor and Bootstrap 5 to build a responsive theme structure.
- Developed and refined reusable components and custom Elementor widgets.
Challenge
The main challenge of Morat was balancing mentoring and production development within the same project.
Rather than simply completing the theme myself, I intentionally gave the junior developer the opportunity to work on a real commercial WordPress product. This required me to explain the development approach, guide him through different technical problems, review his work, and help him understand how the individual components fit into the larger theme architecture.
The project became more challenging when the developer reached his technical limits and could no longer complete the remaining tasks. At that point, I had to take over the project and bring the existing implementation to completion while also reviewing and refining the work that had already been done.
- Trained and guided a junior developer through a real commercial WordPress project.
- Helped him understand theme structure, Elementor, responsive development, and reusable components.
- Reviewed and refined the code and implementation produced during the learning process.
- Fixed incomplete or problematic implementations.
- Completed the remaining features and integrations.
- Performed the final responsive, UI, and functionality checks before completion.
Results
Morat was successfully completed as a commercial Software & Solution WordPress Theme. The project includes multiple homepage layouts, custom Elementor widgets, header and footer variations, responsive layouts, and WordPress-specific customization and integration features.
The project was particularly valuable from a mentoring and leadership perspective. Instead of only focusing on my own development work, I was able to train a junior developer through a real-world theme development process and give him hands-on experience with a commercial WordPress product.
Although the junior developer completed around 60% of the initial implementation, I ultimately took over the project and completed the remaining development, refinements, bug fixes, and final finishing.
Morat therefore became a good example of my ability to mentor junior developers, review and improve their work, take ownership of incomplete projects, and bring a product to a production-ready state when additional technical expertise is required.
